How could one get the membership of WIMPTSEA?
One shall have to apply in black and white and followed by an interview, the committee shall decide about the membership based on its observations.
What are the different grades given to the sound technicians by the Association?
Sound Designer, Recordist, Studio Recordist, Asst. Studio Recordist, Mixing Engineer, Sound Editor, Foley Artist, Asst. Recordist (TV), Asst. Recordist Film, Boom Operator (TV), Boom Operator Film and Sound Attendant etc.
Is this Association recognized in the film Industry?
Not only in all parts of the country, our members do work in different parts of the world. We are the affiliate of FWICE, which is a mother body of all the Indian film industries trade unions. All the Academic Award winners, National Awards winners and all Scholars of Sound do have our membership.
When was this Association formed?
In the year 1956.
Does Association arrange jobs for the members?
No, Members themselves have to arrange job. Association helps the members safeguard their job on the ground of their being regular members of the Association and not on fault at their end.
What is the definition of regular membership?
Those, who do pay their dues with the Association in time and regularly, do not act against the Association and do not hold the hard earned wages of the member, are the regular members.
How much time takes in getting the membership card?
Hardly 30 minutes after final clearance of the prescribed fee and submission of all necessary documents.
When from the members are entitled to get the benefits of the Association?
After 90 days of the submission of the final dues by the existing members and after one year of the new membership sought.
Is there any facility of payment by installments?
No! but at the discretion of the Executive Committee of the Association, if in special case installment is granted but if within a month next part is not paid, the amount deposited earlier shall be forfeited. Amount deposited is neither refundable nor transferable.
What are the minimum and maximum age limit for seeking admission?
Minimum age limit is 18 years and after 50 years of age, no membership is granted. In special cases, if so the enrolled persons do not get certain benefits of the Association.
What is the minimum qualification for getting membership of your Association?
Minimum Secondary School Exam passed applicants only are considered.
Do you upgrade the members’ acumen and skill?
Yes! We do arrange training classes, workshops, seminars etc. to get the members enhance their knowledge and proficiency in sound craft.
Is there any prescribed application form for applying to get the WIMPTSEA membership?
Yes! You may apply on prescribed form available in the office, fill it up, get recommendation from two bonafide sound Recordists with essential testimonials. You may download application form from our official website and shall have to pay Rs. 100/- at the time of submission of the application as its prescribed cost.
